Headaches and Homeopathy

The most important ally we have to face our health problems is inside ourselves and it manifests itself in different ways, such as through the symptoms or the illnesses.

Homeopathic medicine acts stimulating the natural and innate capacity of every human being to defend, adapt and heal themselves.

What allows the homeopathic doctor to “identify” each patient as unique and different from the others are the symptoms of the illness and the characteristics of each sick person in particular.

This is achieved through a thorough interview with the patient in order to know all those individual traits which make that patient different from others who, even having the same illness, will suffer and manifest it in a different and peculiar way.

Therefore, the treatment will also be unique and different.

Homeopathy treats not only the acute illness but also the authentic internal disequilibrium of the patient helping the organism reestablish its health.

It uses substances from nature (animal, vegetal and mineral world) as well as excretions of the human being, which in minimal or infinitesimal dilutions constitute the medicines. Furthermore, homeopathic medicines haven’t got side effects.

Homeopathy contemplates the existence of ill people, not illnesses, that’s why the treatment with homeopathic medicines is absolutely “personalized” according to the physical, emotional and psychical characteristics of each person, also considering their current and historical moment.

As any other illness, migraine has, apart from the physiopathological mechanism which generates it; an important emotional component, being this the aspect homeopathy mainly considers when having to medicate a patient with migraine.

The relationship between migraine and the digestive apparatus, ocular fatigue, the hormonal decompensations of the feminine cycle or sleep alterations, etc are certainly taken into account by homeopathy, but are not the elements which make us choose the medicine to be prescribed. Instead, they orient us towards the indications regarding hygiene and diet we can give to the patient which will help the treatment be more efficient by modifying or correcting things we know have influence on the illness. Also, we prescribe the medicine to treat the patient.

There are some homeopathic medicines which have effects on certain types of migraines, such as:

BELLADONNA
It is one of the most used. Migraine is usually pulsatile, oppressing, paroxysmal and violent. It appears or gets worse at dawn and gets better in a dark room.

BRYONY
It is violent. It appears or gets worse by any movement (getting up, climbing stairs, walking fast, etc.) It is usually accompanied by nauseas and vomits, with a great desire of lying down. It gets better when resting and with pressure.

NUX VOMICA
It is suffered in the frontal and left part of the head. It appears in the morning when waking up. It is generally related to big meals, alcohol excess, coffee, feeling cold, lack of sleep, or unsolved emotional situations. It is accompanied by diurnal sleepiness, sometimes nauseas and vomits and high irritability.

CHINA
It appears or gets worse when feeling cold. It is usually rhythmical at the same time each day, or alternating days, after a mental effort. It feels like stitches which go from one temple to the other. It gets better with strong pressure.

PASQUEFLOWER
It is characterized by a feeling of bewilderment accompanied by paleness, palpitations, lack of appetite and high sensitivity to light. The eyes’ movement increases the pain. Receiving affection is very important when in pain.
